SAmA Would you like to say "I hiked the Appalachian Trail!" The AT, as it is commonly known, is a scenic trail system that covers 2,190 miles in 14 states between Georgia and Maine. Some hikers attempt to cover the entire trail in a single hiking season. Others prefer to hike a section or two at a time. On this trip we will cover the 53 miles that cross through our state! We will gather at the trailhead in Sherman. There will be a gear inspection to ensure everyone is prepared before we head out on our 8-day/7-night adventure. We plan to cover approximately ten miles per day, on often hilly terrain. We will end our AT hike experience in Salisbury. Space is limited to Seniors and Ambassadors, as we will observing responsible "Leave No Trace" principals of minimal impact hiking and camping. Girls must be well acquainted with their gear and be able to carry it gear over distance. Girls will also be asked to bring the meals they intend to eat. It is not necessary to purchase new gear, some can be borrowed or shared. Girls must also be comfortable with primitive camping. (For Troops, Individuals)
