Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors- come join us for a chat to learn all about Biomedical Engineering.
Maria is a biomedical engineer who works on technology to help further research and improve the quality of life for people suffering from an illness. During college, she did research studying how cancer cells move to learn how we might prevent/treat cancer.
She now works on technology applied to cancer research, the study of the immune system, and many other fields that allows researchers to study large numbers of cells to gather a lot of information quickly.

Here is one of her favorite pictures from her work that shows a cross-section of a nerve: All the purple dots (small and large!) are individual cells!
No patch is included for this program, but you can pair it with our virtual STEM Career Exploration badge sessions on January 16th.
